About Equal by Design

Equal by Design celebrates African American designers throughout history. With a lack of representation and low awareness of historic contributions, it’s easy to understand why African Americans aren’t pursuing careers in graphic design.

My goal is to not only change perceptions, but also reveal how African Americans have made important contributions to the industry. In reading Equal by Design, I hope students, teachers, and parents can use this project and book as a resource. It’s meant to spark curiosity among Black youth and inspire future designers to pursue their passion.
